Promotion Rules

Promotion at Sowma Public School is based on a student’s academic performance, attendance, and overall conduct as per CBSE norms. We aim to assess a child’s understanding and not just their ability to memorize.

Promotion Criteria

Students must achieve a minimum of 33% marks in each subject.
Internal assessments, projects, and practicals are also considered part of the final evaluation.
For Classes I to VIII, Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) is followed to assess:
- Scholastic (academic) performance
- Co-scholastic skills (life skills, values, participation)
For Class XI, students must pass both theory and practical exams in all subjects.

Detention Policy

If a student fails to meet the minimum academic requirements or attendance norms, they may be detained.
A student who fails the same class consecutively for two years will be advised to seek admission elsewhere in line with CBSE policy.
The final decision regarding promotion lies solely with the School Academic Council and Principal.

Attendance Requirement

Students must maintain at least 85% attendance to be considered for promotion.
Exceptions are made only for valid medical reasons, supported by certificates.
