Promotion Rules

Promotion Rules

Promotion at Sowma Public School is based on a student’s academic performance, attendance, and overall conduct as per CBSE norms. We aim to assess a child’s understanding and not just their ability to memorize.

Promotion Criteria

  • Students must achieve a minimum of 33% marks in each subject.
  • Internal assessments, projects, and practicals are also considered part of the final evaluation.
  • For Classes I to VIII, Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) is followed to assess:
    • Scholastic (academic) performance
    • Co-scholastic skills (life skills, values, participation)
  • For Class XI, students must pass both theory and practical exams in all subjects.

Detention Policy

  • If a student fails to meet the minimum academic requirements or attendance norms, they may be detained.
  • A student who fails the same class consecutively for two years will be advised to seek admission elsewhere in line with CBSE policy.
  • The final decision regarding promotion lies solely with the School Academic Council and Principal.

Attendance Requirement

  • Students must maintain at least 85% attendance to be considered for promotion.
  • Exceptions are made only for valid medical reasons, supported by certificates.
